Mir waere lieber wenn Tragust in einer staerkeren Liga spielen koennte, was Texas Tornado dieses Jahr macht interessiert mich wenig  .

Da kann ich dir nur recht geben. Als Juniorenlige ist die NAHL nur als zweitklassig zu werten. Allerdings gab es bereits Ende Juni beim Import Draft der CHL einiges an Interesse an Thomas. Das Problem war, dass bei diesem Draft nur insgesamt 60 Spieler gewählt werden. Deswegen die Umleitung nach Texas. In jedem Fall hat er jetzt die Chance eventuell noch den Sprung nach oben zu schaffen. | ||||||||

Donnerstag gab es ein Trainingsspiel.

Made some nice saves and saw a ton of rubber (team White seemed to stop playing defense). Like Strazzabosco, worth keeping an eye on. IMHO Tragust looked a lot better than Berkhoel in net, even though he lost. He stopped Fabry twice, Thorburn, Roy twice, Card twice on penalty shots (either in the practice one or the ones given out as penalties). Max put one off the right post. I thought he was the best looking one of the guys who played even though he gave up 4 of the 6 goals. His squad seemed to forget there are two ends of the rink and it takes effort at the one to get the puck into the other. He saved their bacon -- it could`ve been three or four goals worse. |

He was solid. Nothing exceptional, but nothing glarring either. Zagrapan had a nasty goal on him, but I chalk it up to defensive breakdown and passing more than anything else. It seemed like he saw the puck well today. Seemed to have the correct angle on the shooters most of the day and didnt give up stupid rebounds or go down to the ice early. On the penalty shots I dont really remeber him coming out and challenging anyone though. Mike Ryan had 2 penalties on 1 shift and Tragust looked good on the 2nd shot,but the 1st one he seemed to go back to early and not challenge the skater (IIRC). Not bad though. Among the handful of unsigned free agents trying out are two Italians: goalie Thomas Tragust and defenseman Michele Strazzabosco.
They`re in camp after catching the attention of goalie coach Jim Corsi, an assistant with the Italian Olympic team, and scout Jon Christiano, an assistant at the World Championships. "They merited the invitation," Corsi said. "They don`t have the pedigree because they`re not Swedish or they`re not Finnish, but they had great records with their own clubs and started making great steps forward at the international level. "The idea was to expose them to another level with the idea we needed a fifth goalie and wanted to make sure we have enough defensemen." Tragust is only 21 and will return to his junior team, the Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League. Strazzabosco, 30, has played eight pro seasons in his homeland.
