HI JOE, WHERE DID YOU GROW UP AND FOR WHICH TEAMS DID YOU PLAY IN THE PAST? WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST SUCCESS IN HOCKEY? I grew up in a city called Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada. From 2000-2004 I played four years of NCAA University hockey at Niagara University for the Purple Eagles. I have played professionally for the Johnstown Chiefs and the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL and The Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. Last season I played for Manchester Phoenix of the British Elite league. To date my biggest achievements are winning our league championship in 2004 during my senior year while playing for the Niagara. Another personal achievement of mine is being named a top 10 Hobey Baker Finalist during the 2002-2003 season while playing in my Junior year at Niagara. Also, reaching the 50 goal mark last year while playing for the Manchester Phoenix is up on the list. WHO ESTABLISHED THE CONTACT BETWEEN YOU AND THE HC PUSTERTAL WOLVES? I heard great things about playing for the Wolves and last year my agent had contacted the team expressing that I was interested. It didn’t work out but I am glad that this year I will be getting the opportunity to be a part of the team. DO YOU KNOW SOME OF THE PLAYERS THAT ALREADY SIGNED OR PLAYED EARLIER WITH OUR TEAM? (i.e. Brendan Bernakevitch, Greg Watson, Greg Barber, Mike Jarmuth, Jan Vodrazka) I am friends with Mike Jarmuth as we played on the same team together many years ago. We have stayed in touch and went to the New York Islanders NHL camp together a few years back. He is an Elite player and I can see why Brunico is a huge fan of his. As for the other players I don’t know them personally but I have heard of them. WHAT DID YOU HEAR ABOUT ITALIAN HOCKEY AND MAYBE ALSO ABOUT THE PUSTERTAL WOLVES? I have always been interested in playing in Italy because I have an Italian Passport. The Wolves are a team looking to win and after speaking with Mike Jarmuth he had nothing but good things to say about the fans and the organization. WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGHTS & WEAKNESSES (in hockey)? I am a player who likes to contribute and help the team offensively and at the same time play a strong defensive game. I work hard every practice and every game on those two things so I am a player who can be trusted in both situations. |
