Doug McKay hat einen neuen Arbeitgeber gefunden.

Titans Name McKay As Head Coach

TRENTON, NJ (August 15, 2005) – The Trenton Titans announced today that Doug McKay has been named Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations.

“It’s very rare that you can find a coach with the experience, contacts and recruiting ability that Doug brings to the table,” Geoff Berman, Titans Owner/CEO stated. “With Doug and Jim Leahy now in place, we’re looking forward to providing the quality on-ice product that Titans fans have come to know and expect.”

McKay comes to the Titans after two years as the bench boss for Ritten Renon of the Italia Serie A. Having spent more than a decade overseas, Trenton’s newest head coach will allow the Titans a new pipeline to European players. While also serving as the coach for Merano (1997-98) and Cortina (1980-81) in Italy, McKay has made stops with HC Martigny (1998-99), Laussane (1996-97) and Ajoie (1994-96) of the Suisse Nationalliga and Amsterdam (1999-2001), Rotterdam (1992-94) and Utrecht (1990-92) of the Nederlandse Ijshockeybond.

“We conducted a very extensive search to find the right fit for this organization and we’ve found our man,” said Jim Leahy, General Manager/COO. “We think the players and the fans are going to warm up to Doug very quickly.”

McKay’s resume also includes experience in the National Hockey League (NHL) and the American Hockey League (IHL). He was an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1981-83 and had a two-year stint with the New Jersey Devils (1987-89) that included a Patrick Division Championship in 1988. McKay then spent a season as the head coach of the Binghamton Whalers (1989-90) of the AHL.

A native of Burlington, Ontario, McKay was a four-year letterman at the University of Guelph. His five-year professional career culminated in 1980 with a Turner Cup Championship with the Kalamazoo Wings of the IHL. McKay will reside in the Trenton area.
