1/2004-2005 date: 12.07.2004 HOCKEY CLUB TORINO READY TO TAKE A CHALLENGE Hockey Club Torino with a new marketing name “Bulls” has been confirmed to be part of Italian Ice Hockey Serie A, due to the withdrawal by Merano. Torino Bulls has in “silence” strengthened its staff and players of the organization. Today “Bulls” is ready to publicize with the leadership of Club President Dott. Bruno Oldani that the Executive Committee will be formed by General Manager Marco Moisio and Sport Director Jukka-Pekka Vuorinen, who is also the Director of Ice Hockey in Torino Winter Olympics 2006. The club will also confirm that Mr. Massimo Da Rin will continue as the head coach and Janne Vuorinen as a player coordinator. ROBERTO BORTOT CONTINUES AS THE CAPTAIN Roberto Bortot will continue as the team captain in coming season in Serie A as he also did last year in TorinoValpe team. TEAM ROSTER CLOSE TO BEING FINALIZED Torino Bulls has signed several contracts with players of different nationalities. The new defense leader is ANDREI LUPANDIN, the 26 year old Ukrainian who has played several years in North America in the ECHL. The other defenders, who have also been signed include Swedish MATHIAS SODERSTROM, 27 year old player from the British Elite League(Coventry), and young Finnish defender JUHA RAISANEN from Jokerit Elite jr.. Three more defenders will be released in coming week. The team will also confirm 5 new forwards working together with former Italian player ROBERTO BORTOT. The recruits include, steady scoring Canadian MARC-ANDRE FOURNIER, 25 from SACRED HEARTH UNIVERSITY, NCAA and hard working MIKKO MATTILA, 27 year old winger and captain of his former team KOOKOO, from Division 1 in Finland, JAAKKO KALLIO 21, from Finnish 1.division team FOPS and JOOSE LIPPONEN 22, also from 1.division team KOOKOO. Also young, 20 year old Finnish forward JUSSI AALTO from ESPOO BLUES Elite jr. will be added to the roster. In coming weeks the Bulls will confirm 4 new forwards with whom the negotiations are still being worked out. The new 1st goalie will be a 25 year old Finn, VILLE SALMINEN who played a top season in the second part of Finnish 1.Division (Mestis) last season. Salminen played also with the Finnish National Team last season in Winter Universiads in Italy. Young Italian LUCA MOISIO, 19 years old will challenge Salminen as an assistant during the season. NEW RINK WILL RISE THE STANDARD OF HOCKEY IN TORINO The Bulls have to start the season in the old practice rink Torino Esposizioni with only 500 seats available but during the Christmas break a new era will begin for hockey in Torino. Toroc will finalize the construction works of Agnelli Pavillion in Torino Esposizioni and this 6 500 seat stadium will be the new home Venue for the Bulls as well a “testing laboratory” for Toroc Olympic organization on Sport side.
